What is ICT?
ICT......ICT....ICT...!!!
ICT is everywhere. Really what is it? What does it mean?
There is no any standard definition for ICT, however, you can find some other plenty of ICT definitions on the Internet that have given by some scholars and authors.
ICT stands for Information Communication Technology.
Yes, as it refers, it consists of three major components.
- Information
- Communication
- Technology
- What is information?
Information is an important part of the modern world, as it plays a big role in our day to day life and definitely it is the key to the world of ICT.
Information is
- a meaningful piece
- a collection of meaningless data
- use to take decisions
for an example consider a progress report card of a particular student in a class.
If we consider his each mark separately, it does not have any meaning or cannot use to take any clear decision about the student. So the above each mark separately is an example for data, which has no meaning to take any decisions. But, the total is a piece of information which is the collection of added marks. It is meaningful and it can be used to take clear decisions such as the average and the rank of the student in the class. Here, the task of the addition is called as the "process".
So in a nutshell, the information is "a collection of processed data".
